Steps To Better Women’s Fitness

Women’s fitness is very important, but most women just don’t feel like they have the time to commit to it. They also feel guilty if they spend their time on something for themselves instead of for their family. This is especially true of working women with children. They often feel like their children have been without them enough hours on any given day. Women’s fitness doesn’t have to mean you don’t have time for your family. In fact, it is a great way to spend time with your family. Everyone will benefit from the time together as well as getting fit.

Walking is a great exercise for women’s fitness. It is very simple to walk with small children too. Simply get a stroller designed for walking or running. Pulling your children in a wagon is easy too. Ask another mom with children to join you. This will motivate you to keep moving and give you someone to visit with during your walks. 30 minutes of exercise each day is essential for women’s fitness. I am sorry to break it to you, but carrying groceries and chasing after children doesn’t count!

Yoga and aerobics are popular methods for women’s fitness. You can purchase tapes to do them at home on your own schedule. If you choose to do this, make sure you have plenty of open space to move around. Make sure you schedule time to exercise as well or it won’t get done. Ask your spouse to help you fit this in by giving the children a bath or reading them a story while you workout. Most gyms offer yoga and aerobics for women’s fitness as well. Call to find out how to join, the hours, and what classes are offered. It is important to find activities you enjoy or you won’t stick with them.

Weight lifting can be a part of women’s fitness too. Many women shy away from it because they are afraid of bulking up or looking manly. This isn’t likely to happen because of the different hormones men and women have. Weight lifting is a great part of women’s fitness because you will build lean muscle. The more muscle you have, the more fat you burn while exercising and relaxing. You will also become more toned. Lifting small amounts of weight with several reps is the most effective method.

Women’s fitness becomes more important as you get older. It can help you look younger and have a more appealing body. We tend to gain weight as we get older because our metabolism slows down. Your bones can become more brittle and you can develop serious health issues. Women’s fitness can reduce your risk of cancer, heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes. It can also help regulate your period and reduce the effects of PMS, both mentally and physically. Some women find staying fit helps them get through menopause easier as well. If you only take time to do one thing for yourself this is it, women’s fitness will benefit you now and in the future.

Fitness In Five Minutes A Day?

What is the minimum amount of exercise needed for health and fitness? While it depends on the person, lifestyle, and goals, the general wisdom is that 20-60 minutes per day of cardio pumping, iron lifting, or muscle stretching is necessary.

While no one could deny that these numbers produce optimal results, it is possible to accomplish great things in a shorter time.

The truth is that most badly out-of-shape people have lost a crucial “body-mind” link, a connection that helps them to feel the physical hunger for healthy movement. They hate sweating, don’t like walking, and often confuse thirst or emotional pain for hunger.

For those of us who have to ease our way back into an exercise routine, even five minutes a day can be a life saving door into a healthier world.

Here are the rules:

1) In order to get the most out of this routine, it should be spread out over the day. We’re suggesting sixty seconds of work at 9 am, 12 pm, 3 pm, 6 pm, and 9 pm. This approach is called “Greasing the Groove” and has an exceptionally powerful effect.

2) Concentrate on the abdominal muscles. They are the most important group of voluntary muscles in the body, aiding posture, digestion, and sexual function. Critical to athletic performance, they transfer power from the lower to the upper body. When it comes to appearance, the abdominals are called “the window of health”—we are judged more often by our belt-lines than any other single physical factor.

3) It is virtually impossible to tone the abdominals without benefiting other muscle groups.

What exercises are best? I would suggest a tri-pronged approach: a “killer” exercise, a light exercise, and one that can be done in public—while walking or driving.

1) A roller wheel. These are available in any sporting goods store for about five dollars, and are the only ab exercise devise worth your money. Beginners roll out from their knees, more experienced exercisers from their toes.

2) Hip lifts. Lay on your back, brace your hands at your sides, cross your feet, lifting feet and knees from the floor. Now contract the abdominal muscles and lift the hips from the floor. Relax and repeat the hip lift for sixty seconds.

3) Power breathing. Contract your abdominal muscles HARD as you walk or drive. Combined with proper breathing techniques, this can actually be the perfect ab exercise. There are many yoga, Tai Chi and martial arts teachers who can teach you proper breathing technique—if you haven’t had training or studied this, don’t assume you already know how—seek out a teacher!

While the “Grease the Groove” technique is powerful (and can be used to develop strength, flexibility, or coordination) it is not intended to substitute for your longer cardiovascular workouts. It is offered as an addition, or for those days when you just can’t exercise, or as a way for the non-exerciser to begin. Consider it a doorway to a fitter, healthier world.

Health And Fitness

A healthy person is someone with a balanced physical, social and mental level of well-being, which can be achieved through a number of activities and lifestyle adjustments. It is important to keep physically active and fit as you get older, it is very easy to have an office job and slip into a routine which leaves no room for exercise; driving to work, sitting down at a desk in a stuffy office all day, eating fast food for lunch, driving home and sitting in front of the television all night may seem like an enjoyable way of life, but it will soon catch up with you. Simple adjustments can be made to make this routine to make it a lot healthier, for example; going to the gym twice a week in your lunch break, eating packed lunches from home with healthier food, and even running/cycling to and from work a couple of times a week.

As you get older and your health becomes more important, it may be time to give up any addictive vices you may have, such as cigarettes and alcohol. The older you get the less able the liver is to cope with any excessive drinking you may have been able to get away with in your younger days, and it will have more of an effect on your health. There are many non-alcoholic wines and beers now available, which look and taste the same as the normal beverages, but without the alcohol content. Smoking may be a harder task to give up, but the results are rewarding. Exercise can be very difficult for smokers, who are unable to cope with any prolonged periods of physical activity due to the weakness of their lungs. Not only does smoking inhibit physical performance, but it badly damages your health as a whole and can lead to well publicised serious illnesses such as lung cancer and heart disease.

Diet is an important constituent of a good, healthy lifestyle, and ensuring that you are eating correctly is something everyone should be concerned about. A balanced diet means an appropriate intake of fruit and vegetables, widely recognised to be 5 portions per day, and as little salt and fat based meals as possible. Protein rich foods such as meat, eggs and fish should be balanced with foods rich in carbohydrates, such as potatoes and pasta. Luxuries such as chocolate and sweets do not have to be avoided all together, but consumed in moderation.

Another important factor to maintaining a healthy lifestyle is being able to manage your sleeping habits; around 8 hours a night is acknowledged to be the right amount, anything less and you can become tired and irritable. Sleeping regenerates your body, and it is essential to be getting the right amount of rest.

Maintaining a strong, healthy lifestyle is not something which can be achieved overnight, but the end result is well worth the effort. A healthy person feels the difference, and has more energy and enthusiasm to pursue their goals and fulfil their potential in life.

24 Hour Fitness: A Trendsetter Of Fitness

I have been to a few fitness centers during my life. As a foreigner from a small country I had become familiar with a standard that is not precisely overwhelming, but have given me decent training tools, exercise equipment and fitness coaching good enough for me. When I entered the USA a few years ago I couldn't stop exercising, so I had to find a fitness center or a gym there as well. A few blocks from where I lived there was something called 24 Hour Fitness and I didn't hesitate entering their door. Once inside I suddenly realized that I had never been spoiled with such outstanding workout facilities, until now. I couldn't believe it; this was just marvelous!

There are lot of different fitness clubs that a person can go to in order to get in shape. Some of these gyms are single-unit clubs or small chains, while others are veritable giants of the fitness industry. One of these chains that would likely fit into the 'giant' category is 24 Hour Fitness. 24 Hour Fitness is a large health club and gym that started as a single health club and has grown into one of the world's largest privately-held and operated fitness chains in the world.

24 Hour Fitness was established in 1983 as a single club. It has grown to a company with more than 16,000 employees that has a presence in four countries. 24 Hour Fitness has it's headquarter San Ramon, California and currently has around 3 million members. Over the coming five years, 24 Hour Fitness plans to expand to have over 1000 locations all over the world.

One reason this club has been so successful is told by the name; they offer their members the ability to use their facilities 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This convenience factor has been a big drive to help them expand their member base. Because of this fact, many other chains are now following them by expanding their hours of operation to try to meet this convenience factor for their customers.

Since the establishment in 1983, 24 Hour Fitness has gained public reputation for accomplishments that are outside of the fitness chain norm. In 2004, the 24 Hour Fitness company became the sponsor for the U.S. Olympic team and in the same year they worked with NBC to develop a television show called "The Biggest Loser". This show revolved around helping people to use workout and diet to lose substantial amounts of weight. Contestants competed in teams to lose the most pounds overall.

Like many big companies, 24 Hour Fitness has not been lacking in their share of troubles alongside their success. In February of 2005, a lawsuit was filed against the company that alleged they were conducting illegal business activities. The specific illegalities cited were that the fitness club continued to charge members after their contracts expired or were cancelled and that they did not use proper font formatting for their contracts.

Near the end of 2006, 24 Hour Fitness company settled the class-action lawsuit. They granted all complainants their choice of either about $30 in cash each or a free 30 day pass to the club.

Even with 24 Hour Fitness being in the middle of a lawsuit that was filed against them in 2006, alleging that the company continued to take money out of their customer's checking accounts as well as bill credit cards after the contract expired after being notified by the customer, it doesn't change the fact that this fitness chain has set a new standard for what I consider as high quality training facility, and I have yet to see a gym or fitness center better than 24 hour fitness in any respect.

Diet Fitness Program - Achieve Your Fitness Goals

Incorporate a diet fitness program and make a regular part of your lifestyle. What you eat is what you become. While there are certainly others components to good health, eating healthy is by far the most important factor.

It is often realized quite late that the main culprit in your lethargic and overweight life is your diet. You become used to these junk foods and it becomes difficult to swap it for a healthy diet. The body becomes accustomed to what is being fed and that shows up on your skin, heart and structure.

A diet fitness program doesn’t mean dieting strictly, but staying away from food that adds layers of fat to your body, draining your self-confidence and drowning you into depression. Having small proportions of food every two to three hours will regulate metabolism that helps you shed fat from your body.

For some, food is a hobby, anti-depressant and a friend. Find a way to indulge yourself in a different hobby that is creative and your craving will go away.

One can make a program for himself/herself:

Add more green vegetables and fruits in your diet.
Stay away from processed food esp. white flour.
Have whole grain products and whole wheat instead of potato chips and fries.

The body needs some amount of fat daily, and these are obtained through raw, soaked nuts. Always make sure to soak them, because raw nuts contain an enzyme inhibitor that, when eaten raw and un-soaked, makes you feel sleepy.

Make a time-table and regularize your eating habits, especially at night. You should eat 2 to 3 hours before sleeping.

And, above all else, be happy. This will make you less hungry and you will automatically incorporate the diet fitness program in your life.

The bottom line is this: when you are first starting on a healthy way of eating, it can seem quite overwhelming. However, it needn’t be that way.

When you write out a goal for achieving the right eating habits, take it slowly, and stick to the plan, you will find yourself reaching that mark faster than you ever thought possible. Start slowly, stay on course, and you will soon become happier and healthier than you ever thought possible.

Cycling Your Way To Fitness - Stationary Exercise Bikes - Still A Top Choice For Overall Fitness

In all the craze over new fangled fitness equipment, exercise bikes often get overlooked. Stationary exercise bikes have been around for many years, which can lead some people to think they are outdated or not as effective as newer types of equipment. But for many people, exercise bikes provide a fun, consistent, reasonable means of exercising, improving cardio functions, and losing weight.

Stationary exercise bikes provide all the benefits of riding a bicycle. They provide good cardio workouts, have much less impact on knees, hips and other joints than walking or running, and can be used at any time it’s convenient. Most stationary bikes have manual or computerized controls to allow you to adjust resistance and speed. Many also come with heart monitors and cardio workouts already programmed in. There is a huge selection of price and style, and stationary bikes tend to be the most affordable cardio exercise machine.

Plus, with a stationary bike, you don’t have to worry about traffic, dogs, or bad weather. You can exercise in the convenience of your own home and even watch television or read a book while you bike. Try doing that on the bike path at the park!

Types of Stationary Exercise Bikes

Standard, upright stationary bikes come in single or dual action models. Dual action bikes have handles or levers to work the upper body and have been shown to provide more effective cardio workouts, burn more calories, and also improve overall body tone more efficiently than single action bikes. Dual action bikes work well for those with hip or leg injuries who need to exercise but also need to go easy on their legs. The dual action allows the arms to work harder to operate the machine, thus requiring less work from the legs.

A recumbent bike, sometimes called a “bent,” is a type of stationary bike that is more laid back…literally. It places the body in a semi or fully reclining position, taking pressure off the back area. Some people feel the position is difficult to adapt to at first, but many who choose recumbent bikes say they are very easy and comfortable to ride. They usually come with a larger seat, which often means you will stay on the machine longer or not have discomfort later.

Because of the reclining position, a recumbent bike works the abdominal muscles more and also creates more hamstring action. The lower center of gravity makes for better balance as well. Doctors feel they are better for those with back problems or with cerebral palsy and related diseases. The recumbent bikes also bring your feet more closely in line with your heart, keeping blood pressure low and providing for a safer overall workout.

Popular Models & Prices

Most stationary bikes come with ways to assess your speed and distance. Economy models have a tachometer/odometer combination and a design that utilizes a flywheel to provide resistance. These models are not programmable and provide the least effective workout, but are at under $200 can be an inexpensive way for a beginner or someone on a tight budget to get some exercise. They can be purchased at many department stores.

Standard models usually come with more features such as a programmable consul that calculates heart rate or allows you to pick a heart rate and then adjust the resistance accordingly. These bikes may use flywheels, fan blades, or magnetic resistance, depending on the quality. Magnetic resistance is usually the best method as it operates more smoothly and is quieter. These models can range from $200 up to $1500 and provide the broadest range of selection for the average person. Some popular models include Tunturi F520 (recumbent), Vision Fitness R2000, and several models from Schwinn, the popular bike manufacturer.

More expensive stationary bikes often use magnetic resistance and typically need to be plugged in to an outlet. They come with all the bells and whistles, including extended warranties, more varied programming features, and comfort options such as built in fans. They typically cost over $1500. Lifecycle 5500HR and 5500RHR (recumbent) are popular choices among those who are serious about their workout or have a healthy budget.

Other popular manufacturers of exercise bikes include Nordic Track, Reebok, Weslo, Keys, Fitness Quest, and Edge.

Compared To Other Equipment

All types of stationary bikes provide a low impact workout that many feel is an advantage over treadmill exercise. The force on the knees, ankles, feet and other body parts that occurs with walking or running can cause swelling or discomfort in the joints. It can irritate old injuries or sometimes even produce new problems. A stationary bike provides non-weight bearing exercise that reduces impact on these areas.

In the health and fitness industries, and among customers, there is an extensive debate over which machines burn more calories and give a better cardio workout. There is evidence on both sides of the issue, but many people agree that a stationary bike should have dual action to optimize weight loss and heart health. The pumping of the arms has a significant impact of the effectiveness of any workout, and a treadmill is less effective as well if you hold onto the hand supports rather than letting your arms swing or pumping them in rhythm to your motion.

Elliptical trainers are another exercise option that provides a low impact workout, but many feel they do not provide the same cardio benefits. Rowing machines are boring, more difficult to use, and can be hard on the back. Other equipment has disadvantages as well, making stationary bikes a good choice for overall effectiveness and satisfaction. Consumer buying shows that exercise bikes continue to rank as a top choice for exercise and fitness training.

In the ever expanding world of health and fitness equipment, there have been some true advances as well as a bunch of gimmicks. A stationary bike is an old standard that has been a proven exercise tool for years, and that continues to improve and adapt through new technology. The overall effectiveness, ease of use and variety of designs and prices makes a stationary exercise bike an excellent choice for beginners and advanced enthusiasts alike.

Salsa Dancing For Fitness Is Hot

Salsa dancing is emerging as a refreshing replacement for conventional aerobic exercises. Classes based on the fiery music and movements of Salsa, Mambo, Cumbia, Merengue and more are starting to get people interested in Salsa dancing, while at the same time giving them a pounding workout.

Salsa music first appeared in the 1960s as a rhythmic fusion, birthed in the cultural melting pot of New York City. Combining Cuban Son with Guaracha, Montuno and Guaguanco, it also has a strong Puerto Rican Plena, Bomba and American jazz influence that mellows the smoking urban sound.

Salsa’s popularity began to percolate beyond the borders of the Latin neighborhoods in the early Seventies, spreading into New York's ballrooms and dance halls. Although somewhat formulized when practiced by those who favor profession competitions, salsa dancing in its most traditional form is typically spontaneous and extremely energetic. Dance movements alternate between the very slow and the furious, an embodiment of its lively musical style.

From a strictly athletic point of view, a night of dancing is a superb workout. It merges aerobic and anaerobic training, working your stamina and leg strength. Any kind of dancing is a great way to build the perfect body shape. The continual movements build up aerobic stamina while steadily burning calories over the course of the evening. This helps to strengthen and tone your legs at the same time you lose weight. But salsa excels at this.

Experts say that dancing salsa can burn up to 10 calories a minute, without the negative side effects of high impact exercises such as running. You can learn salsa dancing in the privacy of your home or in a studio, with or without a partner and it’s a fitness program that can easily be integrated into your social life. By using salsa dancing to get fit, you will not only look great, but you’ll have no excuse not to get out more and improve your social life.

The sudden bursts of frenzied dancing in Salsa also can help to improve the anaerobic fitness essential to sports like sprinting, swimming and basketball. Equally important to the aerobic paybacks are the improvements in flexibility and dexterity, a commonly overlooked facet of fitness. Elasticity from dancing will help your swiftness, power and co-ordination by growing your overall range of motion.

When you think about it, dance is actually the most natural form of exercise around. It is also a lot more fun. Life is too short to waste on regimented aerobics, spinning and step classes. Put some spice in your fitness regimen and become a Salsero!

Pregnancy Fitness After The Baby Is Born

What happened to that pre-pregnancy body you once had? After nine months of your body going through numerous changes, many of which you do not like or enjoy, your newborn is here and its time to lose the excess weight you have most likely gained. You can speed the process of regaining your pre-pregnancy shape by exercising regularly.

While it may not help eliminate any stretch marks you may have, exercise will help you regain the body you had prior to becoming pregnant. Some of the most common questions asked by new moms are: How soon can one begin postpartum exercises? How long will it take to regain my pre-pregnancy shape? And what are the best exercises to help me achieve my goals? Keep in mind one of the most critical factors that help determine the answers to these questions is how healthy you were during your pregnancy - both physically and mentally.

Have you ever wondered how celebrity moms lose their baby weight so rapidly? One of the most common reasons is because they exercise strenuously prior to and during their pregnancy. Celebrities have been known to lose up to 60 pounds in what seemed like a few days. However, please keep in mind that this is not considered as the normal time frame. These individuals are also quite careful (almost to the point of obsession) about the types of foods they eat. They are also quite able to afford personal trainers and nannies so that they can perform their exercise routines 5-7 days a week for many hours at a time.

Because most new moms have the regular everyday tasks to contend with such as work, errands, families, losing that excess weight after childbirth is not quite so easy. Hopefully you found the time and the desire to engage in some kind of exercise during your pregnancy, even on the days you just wanted to simply crawl back in bed. If you did, you will find that the process of losing that extra baby weight will be a lot easier for you than for new moms who did no exercise at all while pregnant. Exercising regularly during your pregnancy will have given you the opportunity to become familiar with what will motivate you, give you the best results, and identify the types of exercise that you
find the most enjoyable.

Walking, jogging, aerobics, yoga, and many other types of exercise will allow you to lose the extra weight more quickly and you will feel better at the end of each day. Having a new baby can be an exhausting task and the simple act of exercising regularly will undoubtedly increase your energy and stamina when you need it most. Most doctors will say that it is safe to start a post-pregnancy exercise routine six weeks after the birth of your child. Walking and swimming can be started shortly after your baby is born if you do so in moderate amounts at a slow pace. Work up slowly to the more strenuous exercises to ensure your safety and reduce the risks of any complications that could arise from over-exerting yourself before your body has had adequate time to recover.

Fitness Beliefs Are Not Inborn – They’re Acquired

Our belief determines our act and this fact stands true for fitness as well. These beliefs are seldom inborn and most of them are acquired over the years. Some of us believe that exercise is effective only if you do it in the morning but this notion is absolutely baseless. Beware of the fact that some ideas can get you into trouble because they have the potential to cause harm in the long run.

Fitness for most of us is associated with weight loss as it helps in keeping our body in good shape. Many people believe that unless exercise hurts them in some way, it isn't doing any good to their body. This belief is extremely dangerous as it may inspire them to continue exercising even when in pain thinking that it’s the right way of doing so.

In reality, exercise does require some effort for you to improve your fitness level but it does not mean that you should feel pain in the joints or muscles. In case of slightest hurt, you need to stop, slow down, or modify your exercise. A proper fitness regimen can help you get rid of those excessive fats in an effortless way.

Some of us avoid drinking fluid or water during exercise believing that it will cause stomach cramps but in reality, it’s not a good idea. You’re suppose to replace immediately the water you lose through sweat while exercising or working out. You should always remember that water is the most important element for an exercising individual as his performance is directly related to his state of hydration.

NEVER associate weight loss with sweating. Sweating has no relation with weight loss for that matter. But unfortunately some of us believe that if we are not actively sweating while exercising then very few calories are being burned. Most of us often not realize that the temperature and humidity of the surroundings also affect the rate of perspiration when you exercise. Running on a treadmill in an air-conditioned gym is definitely going to produce less visible sweat as compared to standing outside in the heat yet it will burn many more calories.

So, try to keep yourself away from unrealistic beliefs while exercising and never get frustrated and stop exercising during weight loss. Exercise makes you lose weight slowly but steadily so keep up the hope and make fitness a part of your life.

3 Little Known Tips To Buying Fitness Equipment

Did you know that buying fitness equipment for your home isn’t really that difficult?
It’s true that the world of fitness equipment can seem like a maze at times and that there are literally hundreds of different types of fitness equipment pieces that might work well for your home arrangement. However, with a little guidance, the process really isn’t that hard and you will be amazed at the bargains that you can find if you just dig a little deeper than the average consumer is usually prepared to. Let’s take a look at some tips to help you out in your quest for new fitness equipment.

1. Look at used equipment. This is where some good deals can be found. Fitness equipment can obtain a weird status in a person’s home. They might have been really excited to buy it initially and dreams of a fit body and monthly gym savings might have filled their head. However, after 3 months, the equipment often sits vacant in that person’s home. Used equipment can be a really good deal due to the fact that it’s often times almost as good as new but now it’s for sale. To you. For cheap. Check out newspapers, Ebay, and other places; compare prices and get a deal.

2. Consider commercial fitness equipment. Often times, you can buy the same equipment that your local gym has. Imagine, you can have that same (gasp!) Stairmaster that has dogged you for years at the local Ballys, right in your basement. This might be appealing to some who have the capital to invest in a large piece of equipment. If you no longer have to pay a $50 monthly fee to go to a gym every month, this might be a really smart investment. Look into commercial equipment, you might be pleasantly surprised.

3. The first two points are almost worthless without considering the financing of your new fitness equipment. When looking to finance your new set of fitness equipment there are tons of important factors to keep in mind. You really don’t want to be paying too much for equipment that might be found at a cheaper price (after everything is considered) elsewhere.

Of course if you have a medical condition always check with your doctor first before undergoing a new fitness program.

Just like different commercial fitness gyms have different equipment to offer their members different home gyms also have different equipment to offer. It’s a lot easier to stay on track with your fitness program if you know what it is you want out of your work out. You should also figure out what your current fitness level is.

You have treadmills, rowing machines, stationary bikes, cross country ski machines, free weights, and even multi machines to choose from. Home fitness gyms can be as simple or as complex as you want. The only other thing limiting you is your budget.

There’s nothing cheap about home fitness gyms. At least not the quality ones and you should never compromise poor quality for a cheap price. A treadmill is always a great buy if you have the room. You can vary your workout, increase the intensity, burn calories and get your cardio workout. Choose a belt driven model that has a safety shut off and that the treadmill itself is wide enough. Make sure you also know what the warranty is.

Home fitness gyms also do well with rowing machines and they offer an all over work out that has minimal impact on joints. Once you get the hang of the rowing machine it is an excellent piece of fitness equipment to have in your repertoire. Stationary bikes have been on the market for ages. The newer ones have a few more bells and whistles but at the end of the day they still do the same basic thing they did back then. Stationary bikes are a great start if you have had a sedentary lifestyle.

Home fitness gyms should always include a set of free weights. They are perfect for sculpting the body. They are affordable, easy to store, and a must for anyone that’s serious about their fitness program. You don’t burn a lot of calories with free rates but you do get some very nice definition by combining the two types of fitness training.

Knowing what it is you want makes it much easier to look at all the home fitness gyms on the market and then choose what’s best for you. You’re going to look great!

Finding A Fitness Trainer

The decision to get fit is a great goal to set for yourself, but it can be hard knowing where to start. A Fitness Trainer can assist you by discussing what you want to accomplish from your efforts. Some people want to lose weight, some what to tone their body, and others want to build their muscles. There are specific exercise programs that a Fitness Trainer can recommend to help you in the area you choose to work on. They can also show you the correct way to do each of the exercises so that you get the maximum benefit from your workout.

Finding the right Fitness Trainer for you is easier than you think. If you belong to a gym or fitness center, ask about a personal Fitness Trainer program. For those of you who want to work out on your own or who don’t have a gym in your area, you will have to search a little bit harder for a Fitness Trainer. Ask your doctor, friends, and family members if they can recommend anyone to you. The internet is a great place to locate any in your area as well as give you some basic information on what a Fitness Trainer can do for you.

Fitness trainers are going to vary in their methods. You will want to talk openly with a Fitness Trainer regarding their philosophy, training, and consulting methods. You will also want to discuss their educational background and certification as a Fitness Trainer. Of course, the cost of their service is going to be an important factor to discuss as well.

Ask them why they became a Fitness Trainer. Ask for references who you can contact regarding their experiences with the Fitness Trainer. Since you are going to be exercising in your free time, you are going to have to discuss a schedule that works well for both of you. Make sure you share your fitness fears with the personal trainer and see how they react. They should also be made aware of your fitness level and any health concerns that are going to need to be considered while getting fit.

After talking, you should feel comfortable with the Fitness Trainer. If you don’t feel like you are compatible then keep looking. You need the time and money you spend with a Fitness Trainer to be well spent, not stressful. Trust your instincts when it comes to being around this particular individual. It is a good idea to talk with at least three potential Fitness Trainers before you make a final decision based on what each has to offer you.

Getting fit is easier when you have the expertise of a Fitness Trainer behind you. They are great for motivating you as well as giving you personal attention to meet your fitness goals. Make sure the Fitness Trainer you choose to work with has your best interests in mind as you work together to devise a challenging yet rewarding fitness program that are going to give you the results you having been hoping for.
Going to a fitness center is something most of us could benefit from. Our busy lifestyles often leave us not getting enough exercise and not eating right. Exercising can help you sleep better and feel better. It will also boost your immune system and give you more energy. A fitness center offers a variety of exercise equipment, weights, swimming, aerobics, and many other activities to get you in shape. Going to a fitness center can be the motivation you need. The key is to participate in fitness exercises you enjoy so that you will look forward to going to the fitness center rather than dreading it and making excuses not to go.

We are all busy, that is just the way of our society. Don’t let that be your reason for not going to a fitness center. It is important to make time for yourself, and going to a fitness center is a perfect way to do it. Get up ½ earlier or go on your lunch hour. Go immediately after work before you come home. If you have time to lounge in front of the TV then you have time to go to the fitness center.

It is a good idea to compare fitness centers before you commit to one. Call and ask for a tour of the facilities. You want to attend a fitness center that is organized and sanitary. You also want one with a variety of activities and plenty of equipment. Nothing is more frustrating than going to a fitness center and having to wait around to use the equipment. Since your schedule is probably hectic, sign up with a fitness center that has long hours. Compare membership fees as well. Joining a fitness center shouldn’t break the bank.

For the best results go with a fitness center who offers personal trainers. This is an individual who will help you devise a workout plan to get you the results you want. You will need to explain what areas of your body you want to work on as well as your overall fitness goals. Some people just want to lose weight, others want to tone and firm, while others want to gain muscle. To keep yourself motivated, try encouraging a friend to sign up with you. Nothing gets you to the fitness center faster than having a great friend to visit with while you are there. If not, don’t worry. You will likely be able to make new friends as you go to the fitness center more often.

More men than women go to fitness centers. Don’t let that discourage you. However, there are some fitness centers that are designed only for women. You can join one if it would make you more comfortable. Do you have small children? That can make going to the fitness center more difficult. Some fitness centers offer childcare services. If not, consider trading off workout time and childcare with another fitness center member. Getting fit is important to your overall health, quit making excuses and sign up with a fitness center today.

Steps To Exercise Fitness

Studies show those who participant in exercise fitness are healthier, happier, and sleep better. Those all sound like wonderful reasons to get involved in an exercise fitness program right? Exercise fitness involves a combination of cardio and stretching exercises to improve your overall health. You can find out about various exercises online and in magazines. Both will even explain the results you can expect from the exercise and the proper way to do it.

The great thing about it is you get to choose the exercises you participate it. Choose from sports, swimming, bicycling, walking, aerobics, yoga, and many more. The possibilities are endless. The goal is to find a variety of activities that you enjoy doing and implement an exercise fitness plan with them. Make sure you consult with your doctor first before you start a new exercise fitness program. You need to make sure you are physically able to do the exercises you choose. It is also important that you know how to do them properly. Aerobics and weight lifting are both effective parts of exercise fitness, but they can do more damage than good for your body if you don’t do the activities correctly.

Regardless of your current activity level and fitness level, you can come up with an exercise fitness plan that will improve your health. Don’t expect it to be easy and don’t expect to see results overnight. Implement small changes and continue to add to them. If you enjoy walking then set a goal to walk 15 minutes each night. Increase your walking time by 5 minutes each night until you reach 30 minutes. Next try walking at a faster pace. Still walking 30 minutes each night, try to walk further in that amount of time.

For the best results have a variety of activities in your exercise fitness plan so you won’t get bored. This will also help you accommodate the weather. Have a variety of exercises you can participate in both indoors and outdoors. For some people going to the gym is a great motivator and the only way the will participate in exercise fitness. This is perfectly acceptable as long as you go to the gym faithfully and get some exercising time in.

In the United States, obesity is a huge problem affecting millions of individuals of all ages. It all stems from a sedentary lifestyle and not eating properly. The time is right to start an exercise fitness program for yourself. Take advantage of the opportunity you have now while you are still healthy enough. The choices you make today in regards to your exercise fitness program will determine your overall wellness and physical health in the future. With heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol being the price most of us will pay for not getting fit, it seems like implementing an exercise fitness program is the safest choice available

Setting Fitness Goals

Many people make the mistake of setting their fitness goals too high when they embark on an exercise program. This leads them to abandon their plans out of frustration and impatience. Setting manageable goals is key to maintaining a fitness program over time.

If you have been completely sedentary you need to start out your fitness regimen by working towards small and realistic goals. These can be as simple as walking around the block once a day for a week, and adding another block each subsequent week until they reach the 30 minutes recommended by health professionals. A few sessions with a personal trainer can help you set reasonable goals for weight-bearing exercise like weight training. In the beginning focus on overall conditioning rather than building muscle. Check with staff at your gym or fitness center for recommendations about what exercise classes are right for your current fitness level.

When you're just starting out, it's easy to make rash promises like exercising every day. It's hard for even people in top condition to make time each and every day for training. Start off three or four days a week and build up from there. If you're taking up a new sport like swimming, skiing or golf, consider taking lessons with a professional so that you develop good habits from the beginning.

If you've been getting moderate exercise your goals can be a little more ambitious. If you're walking the recommended 30 minutes per day, why not add hand weights to your routine? This might also be the time to consider adding more weight to your lifting or taking an intermediate fitness course. You may also be ready to speak to a personal trainer about beginning to work on building specific muscle groups.

Once you've attained a high level of fitness, then it's time for some serious goal setting. Plan to run a marathon or participate in a 5K walking event. There are many of these events run to benefit charity, giving a double benefit of both funds raised and health benefits to participants. When preparing for an event of this nature, return to your early habit of setting small, realistic goals. Add miles to your run on a weekly basis until you are able to complete the full distance. Speak with your trainer to establish a regular schedule of weight-bearing exercise that will help improve your stamina and flexibility.

Bike: For Fun And Fitness

Aerobic fitness has many benefits

Excellent health is based on aerobic strength, flexibility and fitness. All of these are significant. For healthy heart, any type of aerobic exercise is good. Normally, this needs movement that is continued over a period of time and that uses the power of your arms and legs. This kind of work out makes your heart work harder. Aerobics causes your body to burn fat for energy and use oxygen. Cycling is a good example of aerobic activity.

Cycling is a excellent exercise for people with high blood pressure or heart disease. Research shows that cycling is actually better for reducing blood pressure than more intense activities like jogging.

Eventually, it strengthens and conditions your heart.

The American Heart Association and the American College of Sports Medicine recommends cycling, for healthy individuals and low-risk cardiac patients.

Cycling has following benefits:

·increase your endurance
·flexibility is increased
·stimulates sexual desire
·muscles that supports joints are strengthened
·improve your remembrance and attentiveness
·keeps you in shape
·reduces stiffness and ache
·ability to perform daily tasks is enhanced
·makes you feel good
·reduces sleep disorders and improve your sleep
·increase your confidence
·help you feel more confident
·reduce nervousness

This century is certainly of fear and doubt, but this is a century of uproar, hatred, clash, insanity, exploitation, brutality, corruption, this century is of terrorism, this century of instant profit, so humans are depressed and hurt.

How about biking when you are depressed?

How about going out there biking and seeing beautiful world GOD made just for you? How about feeling that cold breeze? How about your body realizing all those happy hormones while cycling which are natural pain killers? How about taming all those mountains? How about chasing sun by biking towards sun?

Man, it feels great, trust me.

Do you remember how many sports and games you played as kid? Do you remember how many times you fell while biking? Don’t give up on it, it felt great, no? Let’s pedal back to the time of cheery delight. Bicycle is the best way to have fun while staying healthy and fit. And age is no barrier to biking. Who knows? Who you might meet along the way!

Fitness Is Cool, Fat Is Not

Thank goodness the world is changing.

Because we were at a point, not too long ago, that being fit was “not cool.”

You were a “weirdo” if you cared about how you looked, what you ate, and how much should you exercise in a day.

Thankfully, it is now “cool” to be fit and stay in shape.

And it should stay that way…….forever.

Unfortunately, while being “fit” is becoming cool and popular, people are becoming increasingly fatter.

Now, that doesn’t make sense, does it?

Didn’t think so.

While being “cool” is all well and good, you also need many more traits in order to be fit.

Namely:

-Discipline
-Consistency
-Assertiveness
-Independence

Among other things.

To my amazement, so many people think it’s “cool” to smoke, use illegal drugs, eat fatty foods all day, and never get off of their butt and exercise.

Last time I checked, it wasn’t real “cool” to get emphysema, lung disease, depression, diabetes, and various other illnesses.

Yet, there is a very high probability that you will develop these (and others), if you continue to do all of these “cool” things.

And doing these things all but guarantees that you are heading down the path of being fat, lazy, and unsuccessful.

Would you like to learn how to be so out of shape that you can’t even walk the stairs in your house without getting out of breath?

Or how about the ability to feel sick and nauseated after a walk around your neighborhood?

Or how about the ability to get injured and pull your muscles while playing a pickup basketball game?

Better yet, would you like to learn how to be confined to your house, depressed, and not motivated to get in shape?

Well, then…. I’m sure all of that smoking, drug use (especially teen drug use), and horrible diet that you have been eating contributed to about 99.954974613161% of your problems.

Doesn’t sound too “cool” does it?

Didn’t think so.

So, how can we solve all of your health/fitness problems together?

Well, first of all, let’s cut off your high sugar and high fat foods.

Then, let’s add some lean protein, fiber, and of course, a healthy dose of fruits and vegetables.

Let’s also start implementing an exercise program, no matter how much or how little it is to start.

Now, all of this is all well and good, but if you don’t do this ONE THING, you will never see the ultimate success you are looking for.

Want to know what that one thing is?

CONSISTENCY.

Yep, you will never see ultimate success until you consistently do the right thing.

Let’s start focusing on things like: How much you should exercise in a day.

Start off small, and let’s work on changing all of the bad habits in your life so you can be the person you’ve always wanted to be.

Let’s do this together, and let’s do this consistently.

Then, and only then, will you reach all of the goals and dreams that you’ve always wanted.

Now that is “cool”.

What's even "cooler" is all of the information I have for you at http://www.fitnesswithchris.com that will help you become fit and healthy.

I’ll talk to you soon.

Chris C.

The Presidents Fitness Challenge

In an effort to keep the citizens of the United States in shape and healthy, the presidential fitness challenge has been created. As an effort to enthuse both children and adults alike in matters of exercise, in this article, we'll be discussing in-detail the president's plan for fitness success.

When it comes to the fitness of children, the presidential fitness challenge has a wide scope. It urges children to perform the following steps: choose an activity, get active, track your activity, and order your award. Children are encouraged to take part in any physical activity that they desire, including such low-intensity workouts as long walks or highly intense sports, such as basketball. The goal that the president's challenge has set is for children to exercise 60 minutes per day for at least 5 days of the week for at least 6 weeks. For those who cannot fully dedicate for a six-week span, however, 8 weeks are allowed in which to complete the required 6. Next, children are encouraged to go online and record their exercise, no matter how mundane it may be. Jogging for 5 minutes constitutes enough of a reason to record the exercise. If children cannot make it to the computer every day, they can file back-logs for their activities for as far back as 14 days prior. Once the goal is reached, the activity log will inform the child that they have met the needs for the presidential fitness award. Pedometers can also be used to monitor exercise progress; for girls aged 6 to 17, 11,000 steps per day should be achieved. Boys aged 6 to 17 should count approximately 13,000 steps per day. If the child wishes to continue the exercise program after receiving the award, they can continue to log their progress and move on to the next challenge if they desire to do so. The presidential champions program gives merit to those who maintain the active lifestyle encouraged by the fitness program.

Adults can participate in the program, as well. Their goals are similar to children's goals, but there are a few changes that need to be addressed. A mere thirty minutes of exercise per day is permissible for adults, and the same frequency of workouts should be maintained. When measuring steps on a pedometer, adults should shoot for at least 8,500 steps per day to ensure good fitness. The presidential fitness challenge represents a good chance for those who want to be fit to help change their habits and be rewarded. You can sign up today at http://www.presidentschallenge.org .

Business Opportunities For The Fitness Industry

There are many business opportunities in the fitness industry today. Often people overlook the various business opportunities because they do not know about them. Focusing on the various business opportunities is a great way to expand your marketability in the fitness industry.

You might be wondering what exactly a business opportunity is. Anytime that you have the chance to get the word out about your fitness business you have landed on a business opportunity.

Another secret opportunity is marketing yourself as a fitness industry expert. You never know when a new job or opportunity might present itself because you took advantage of business opportunities that you came across.

One method you can use to take advantage of business opportunities in the fitness industry is to build a website on the internet. The purpose of the simple website is to let others know that you are a fitness industry expert. Someone might see the page and contact you for further information, ask you to write a piece for them, or even offer you a better job!

Share your expertise with others. There are many fitness industry related electronic magazines on the internet. You can contact the managers or editor teams and offer to write one or two pieces specifically for them. This is an easy and effective way to let the world know that you are in the fitness industry and that you are an expert in the field.

Do you market fitness related products? Check your local area for tradeshows, exhibitions, and organizations that you can participate in. You will be meeting other people in the fitness industry and having the opportunity to grow and shape your fitness product distributions.

After careful research, you can take advantage of business opportunities in the affiliation market. If you are connected with a reputable fitness company that accepts affiliates, there are many business opportunities to have a steady stream of residual income in the fitness industry.

Expand on what you already know and do in the fitness industry. For example, if you sell Pilates equipment to local gyms, perhaps you can expand and also sell Pilates DVDs and books. Pilate’s balls and mats are popular for home use. You can open new doors of business opportunities by offering products to the general public that they can use in their homes.

Have you ever considered in your spare time writing a book about the fitness industry? You can write an ebook and have it marketed on the internet. Inside the ebook, you can promote your fitness product line, provide contact information, and share your fitness industry knowledge with others.

There are many places on the Internet to download a free eBook compiler to make creating the eBook a simple process. Additionally, you can self-publish the eBook or even offer it on your website.

Taking advantage of business opportunities in the fitness industry is not just a matter of selling fitness products. The primary marketing tool you have is your expertise in this niche market. With out technologically advanced society today, people crave knowledge and information. You can literally have hundreds of potential new opportunities opened up to you if you take advantage of marketing yourself and your knowledge.

The Truth About Real Health And Fitness

The simple truth about getting health and fitness results is this:

Nutrition, training and lifestyle are a combination of science and art. To achieve outstanding results you firstly must understand the science behind the physiological realities of the human body and how it works. Armed with this knowledge, you must then translate and apply it to craft a way of eating, training and living that provides your unique physiology with exactly what it needs to achieve the results you ask of it.

Or more succinctly:

Learn once and for all how the human body really works, decide what you want to do with your body and then give it precisely what it needs to do what you have asked. (Check out this great article about weightloss and bodybuilding nutrition: http://www.ultimatebodysuccess.com/e-course1.html)

People are always looking for shortcuts to be leaner and more toned and muscular. They just want someone to come up with some way or think of some magical system or “diet” or better yet a “supplement” that will give them the body that they want. They read diet book after diet book, rubbish article after rubbish article in magazines and try every new supplement under the sun ‘guaranteed’ to miraculously strip body fat as ‘proven’ by ridiculous before and after photos that they simply want to believe are real against all better judgement.

Getting a lean muscular body for life is not achieved by letting some schmuck sell you a book or pill that promises your salvation. You must not let anybody else do the thinking for you and make crucial decisions on what is best for your own body. If you want real results, it is time for you to take back control of your body once and for all. (Check out this great article that destroys the myth about training to 'tone up': http://www.ultimatebodysuccess.com/e-course5.html)

The single greatest shortcut you can ever take for your health and fitness is to actually take the time to learn how the human body actually works. This is not as hard a process as it seems and is profoundly important.

Billions of dollars are spent on health and fitness products and services with only a miniscule minority knowing how their bodies actually function. How can anyone make an educated and sane decision about what to eat and how to exercise without knowing how the body really works? This is why people spend billions on junk diet books and scams and hours of wasting their lives in gyms. How the hell could you possibly know what is good for you or what will work to get you the body you want if you have no idea how the human body actually works? It's like demanding an answer before even having contemplated let alone asking a question.

It is for this precise reason that at least 90% of people are doomed to fail miserably before they even set foot in a gym. Most people don’t know how their body really works and as a direct result their training, nutrition and lifestyle is an exhausting, ineffective, costly and frustrating shambles that doesn’t even get them into the same universe as looking like a Men’s Health cover model. (This is a very important article about how to approach training before you even get started: http://www.ultimatebodysuccess.com/e-course2.html)

Without working understanding of how your body functions you are simply stumbling around in the dark because it is simply impossible to tell what information is correct or whether what you are doing will deliver you the result you want. You are also easy prey for the criminal behaviour of the hordes fitness industry frauds that are just itching to rob you of your money.

Fitness, Health And Why "We" Need A Rowing Machine

"We" have just bought a rowing machine. It's one of these big fancy ones you find in a gym. My husband decided "we" needed one as he watched me struggle into my jeans.

Anyway I bid for a second hand rowing machine on e-bay and was frustratingly out bid in the last 40 seconds. However, the women who actually won the thing, decided to pull out of the sale because she was "too tired" to go and collect it.

In the auction details it clearly said "buyer to collect" and gave the choice of two locations, so she must have realised how far she would have to travel if she won. Mind you, that may not have been the case. Perhaps, as she'd bid so late in the auction she'd overlooked that bit which is something I did once to my cost.

When I was new to e-bay I bid for a bronze ornament in the final few minutes of an auction and won it. I was delighted with my purchase until I realised it was being shipped from Beijing and I live in UK. The postage was eleven times more expensive than the actual item and it is a good story to tell when my family wants a laugh at my expense. Now the location and shipping is the first thing I check.

Still her loss was my gain and so last week end "we" went to collect it, having first removed a few seats in the car as it's a big thing but surprisingly not too heavy.

The woman who was selling it had bought it new and you could see from the condition it had rarely been used. Somewhat worryingly she told me it was because she now had a bad back, but quickly added it had nothing to do with the rowing machine. I guess she must have read my mind.

Anyway, we completed the transaction and brought it home so I now have absolutely no excuse not to exercise. It is actually very easy to use but there is a technique to follow, if you don't want to hurt your back. Posture is very important, as is the arm and leg action, which requires co-ordination.

Rowing machines are actually great because they are the perfect way to keep fit. As well as improving stamina, and burning calories, they are good for rehabilitating muscles, ligaments and joints after an injury.

However, there are many different types available, some better than others and come in various price ranges. The older, piston ones tend to be harder to use and not as effective, but the modern ones, like the one "we" have just bought have advanced technology which mimics the actual real life rowing experience. It's amazing what you can achieve with a bit of air resistance, a fan, a sliding seat, a chain and a handle bar!

Rowing machines exercise the muscles in your abdomen, arms, back, and legs, all areas which I've sadly neglected over the years. They are good for the heart and lungs as they offer aerobic exercise and also strengthen muscles providing anaerobic benefits.

All in all they are an excellent fitness machine and mine will tone up my arms, shoulders and thighs, as well as burn off a few calories and give me some beneficial cardio exercise. At least it will if I use it.

I know any form of exercise is good, and particularly if you are trying to lose weight or have health issues. Dieting is only a small part of the weight loss/health regime, and in our increasing obese society, exercise should be high on the list of priorities, and not just because of the struggle to fit into clothes.

Type 2 Diabetes is definitely on the increase with most sufferers being overweight, and there are now over 200 different types of Cancer. You may be interested to know Cancer cells cannot thrive in an oxygenated environment, so exercising daily and deep breathing help to get more oxygen down to the cellular level.

That's something I shall reflect on when I go on the rowing machine which I now agree "we" really did need.

Lifecycle Exercise Bike - For Fitness And So Much More!

have been working out on my Lifecycle exercise bike for several weeks now, and I must say that I do like the results that I am getting. Before I started using my Lifecycle exercise bike, it was so much more difficult for me to get all of the physical activity that my body needs to stay fit and healthy. I would go swimming a couple times a week, but this just was not enough activity.

I know that swimming is the healthiest exercise that there is, so I tried to make it as everyday an occurrence as possible, but it was just such a hassle. I would have to head down to the gym, bathe, swim, shower again, and then head back home, and I only had time to do that a few times a week at most. In addition to that, the pool was only open for a few hours a day for general swimming, the rest of the time being dedicated to swimming classes.

Working out on my Lifecycle exercise bike is something that I can do at any hour, day or night. I do not have to make a big production of it, like I did with swimming. If I only have ten minutes, I can spend all ten of them on my Lifecycle exercise bike. When I used to go swimming, it would hardly be worth while to even go unless I had at the very least 2 hours in which to exercise.

Now, I get a workout every day, even if it is not always a long one. Although working out half an hour probably does more for your heart, I still would say that cycling every day for ten to twenty minutes is better for me than an hour of exercise twice a week.

There are other things that you can do to exercise aside from riding a Lifecycle exercise bike, but few of them are as good. Some people prefer riding a road bike to a Lifecycle exercise bike, but this only works if there are good bike trails nearby.

Otherwise, you will have to make frequent stops, which will totally kill the cardiovascular feature of the workout, and that is no good. Jogging is, in some ways a good alternative to the Lifecycle exercise bike, but it has some problems to. Muscle, Fitness And The Stomach Bulge

When it comes to muscle and fitness, all the men want washboard abs and the women want a nice flat tummy. Many believe you can spot reduce the belly and waist-line.

But the truth is, if all you do is exercise your abdominal muscles, you are sure to be disappointed.

There is more involved in protruding abdomens than weak muscles.

Your flabby stomach and poor muscle fitness may be accompanied by and contributed to by a flabby self-esteem. The more your self-image sags the more you lose control over your looks, fitness and health.

This emotional deficit causes many people to turn to food for solace. Naturally the more emotionally uplifting foods are the fats and refined carbohydrates. The more of these you eat the less good you feel about yourself so the more you eat and the fatter you get. It's a viscious circle.

If you try to halt the downward spiral by exercising only those muscles under the flab you eventually get more despondent at the futility of it.

A woman's fat stores are primarily located on the thighs, hips, waist and abdomen. As the fat thickens and the muscular casing around the abdominal cavity weakens from lack of exercise, the belly bulges more and more.

The internal muscles that keep the pelvis on an even keel give way under the strain, tipping the pelvis forward, and the tummy gets bigger still.

The constant pressure on the spine from all the weight in the front puts strain on the low back muscles, fatiguing and weakening them, leading inevitably to all kinds of low back problems.

This problem cannot be corrected by dieting along or spot exercising the stomach muscles. To flatten the stomach you not only have to strengthen the sagging muscles, you also have to rebuild your self-image, overcome your desire for fattening foods, and redesign your nutritional intake.

If you really want to reduce that big spot that leads the way wherever you go, attack it from 3 directions.

1.Reshape your body image.

Set aside a few minutes several times every day and tell yourself exactly how you want to look, shapely and lean. Concentrate on the desired image in detail and feel as though you already have it.

Your mind stores these images. Subliminally they reprogram your subconscious. Though you won't hear the messages, your body will. Something deep within you will stir the urge to begin a diet and to improve your muscle fitness with an exercise program.

When you consciously make the decision to acquire a flat stomach, your inner computer sets about making it so.

Once you are in control of your appetite you gain some pride in your accomplishment and begin to restore your self-esteem. A big fat belly and high self-esteem are incompatible.

2.Set up a sound nutritional program.

Eliminate all refined carbohydrates and reduce your fat intake to as low as possible. Cut out any foods in cartons, boxes, cans and jars. Shop from the fresh produce section of the supermarket.

Cook less and eat more raw foods. These are higher in fibre and lessen time in the digestion system, thus decreasing the absorption of any fat in the food.

Eat fowl without the skin. Eat fish which contains the essential omega fatty acids. Protein is also obtained from lean red meat which is also a good source of iron and B12.

Steam, bake and broil rather than fry.

3.Build your muscles and fitness

The midsection muscles crisscross to form a strong protective cage around the inner organs, and stabilize the whole trunk. If fat and flabby, these muscles will sag and distend the abdomen and impair the inner organs.

A good bodybuilding program is the best way to burn off your excess, unsightly fat and replace it with firm shapely muscle. Sit-ups and crunches alone won't get rid of that big gut. They are an important part of the solution but you must work every part of your body for overall fitness. Work out systematically at weights and aerobics for 20-60 minutes on as many days of the week as you can. Only by the diligent application of this three pronged approach will you reduce that pot spot and get that flat smooth tummy. And if you really want them and continue to work hard with this approach you can even develop washboard abs.

A Beginner’s Guide To Fitness Equipment

This guide aims to give a basic outline to fitness equipment in a straightforward and informal manner. The author aims to give you accessible and easy to understand information to help you on the road to becoming fit and healthy.

Statistics at the time of writing indicated that over two thirds of the UK population are overweight (slightly more in America). The media and the Governments are pushing fitness and healthy lifestyles but what exactly should you do if you want to make the switch?

I believe the first step that you have to take is a mental one; there is no point in trying to get into shape for all the wrong reasons. Wanting a good physique may be the push behind media attention but there are many other advantages to using your body to its full potential such as a longer life and general feeling of well being. If you have made the decision to read this article I am assuming that you have also made the decision that you want to get a little fitter. Hopefully you can use this information to complete your goal.

We should look at the basics first. Before you do any exercise you need to make the decision of whether you will attend a gym or buy your own fitness equipment. Expense wise there is really no advantage one way or another since prices and membership fees are always changing. I recommend that you shop around yourselves if you are really going to get into fitness but if you are a new starter and want something to get you going, picking up a cheaper, but good quality piece of equipment may be the best step before you go splashing out on a years gym membership. There are lots of types of fitness equipment out there so I will give you a helpful rundown of what each machine could do for you.

Rowing Machine

Rowing machines are a great choice for all round results. They help increase cardio strength, burn fat and add tone/definition. Rowers are also great for strengthening knee, hip and ankle joints as this is where the load is placed during exercise. Modern rowers incorporate resistance adjustment so that you can create a workout specifically for your level of fitness. Rowing machines tend to come in the low to average fitness equipment cost, you will probably find a good quality rower for between £100-200 with very high quality home ones reaching around £600 giving it another quality for being a ‘basic’ piece of fitness equipment for you to get started on. Rowing machines are one of the best pieces of fitness equipment for a smaller how as they have folding options. This massively reduces the storage space needed and means you won’t loose too much room when you’re not using it.

Elliptical Cross Trainers

Elliptical trainers come in many shapes and sizes but all; essentially, work your body in the same way. By using an elliptical trainer you will benefit from cardiovascular and strength training, specifically targeting the lower body and arms. The elliptical movement will also assist in improving balance and co-ordination making it a great choice for both new and experienced users. Elliptical training is also a great low impact calorie burning exercise and would be perfect for people trying to loose weight in between a hectic lifestyle. One downside of the elliptical trainer category is that they do tend to need plenty of room to be used correctly.A beginner’s guide to fitness equipment.

Treadmills

Treadmills are one of the most versatile pieces of fitness equipment on the market; they are ideal for family use and offer a balanced and easily adjustable exercise regime that improves all round fitness as well as increasing the health and effectiveness of your heart. Walking and running are widely regarded as one of the most natural and effective forms of exercise and by purchasing an adjustable speed treadmill you can have access to both at any time. The great thing about treadmills is that many come with a folding option so you can have a versatile piece of fitness equipment without loosing half a room.

Weights

Weights are one of the oldest and most conventional forms of exercise. They are great for toning certain muscles (essentially upper body and arms) but do not really add much benefit for those looking to loose weight. A good fitness strategy for both men and women is to combine them with other forms of exercise, eg. Jogging with body weights or aerobics with small hand weights. This will increase your stamina as well as strengthening you muscles. Weights are relatively cheap and small in comparison to most exercise equipment so they are ideal “second purchase” for your home gym.

Trampolines

Trampolining is a fun, modern way to exercise and is especially effective a burning off calories. Trampolines need plenty of room in a outdoor environment but the huge range around at the moment means you can easily pick up a safe, foldable trampoline from 8 to 14 foot. You can also pick up a cheap fitness trampoline for indoors but this will not be quite as much fun. Trampolines are also great for the family and provides you kids with a great way to do their own exercise.

Commercial Gyms

As mentioned before the cost of one piece of fitness equipment against the cost of gym membership can be a difficult decision to make. One thing to keep in mind is how accessible your fitness equipment will be. If it’s in your house can you easily get it out and have a few hours or will you be unmotivated to clear a room to actually use it? If you join a gym will you actually visit? Or will you slowly decide you have more and more important things to do.

There are benefits to becoming a gym member; you will have access to specialists at most gyms who can fully instruct you on how to use all the different kinds of fitness equipment located within as well as handing out tips and advice for your own health. An often overlooked disadvantage centres on how you interact with people. If you are someone who is very self conscious attending a gym may not be the best idea, some can be very busy and often filled with people who may, in comparison, appear much fitter than you. While it is always advisable to hold you head high in life and be proud of yourself and body, you should not suffer a motivation blow because of the people you are exercising with, if you feel you may experience such feelings purchasing your own fitness equipment may be a more preferable path.

Dieting And Fitness To Lose Weight

Looking in the mirror will not make the person lose the extra weight. It involves two things to turn that into a reality and that is namely diet and exercise.

Dieting doesn’t always mean giving on some of those favorite meals but simply cutting down on some and getting the much needed energy for the body from something else. A good example is the Atkins’ diet. This type of program focuses on taking in less carbohydrates and more of proteins.

There are more than five diet programs that focus on less carbs. The reason is because one carbohydrate focuses on four water molecules. People that are able to stick to the plan are capable of losing more than 10 pounds in less than a month’s time.

Why can’t the person just give up eating foods that contain carbohydrates? This is because people need this source of energy for brain activity and muscle function.

A good way to maintain a good amount in the system is to eat food such as whole wheat or gain and staying away from products such as pasta, bread or rice that are color white. Brown bread or red rice can be consumed.

The best way to maintain this is by making sure that carbohydrate intake should not exceed 65% in the food being eaten.

Fat is also something that the individual has to watch out for since this also contributes to weight gain. One way to maintain it will be to make sure that the person only consumes 30% calorie intake from these products. A few examples of these are non-fat milk, nuts, vegetables, fruits and other fat free products available in the grocery store.

Eating less will reduce the calories. Now, in order to burn the existing ones causing flabs to appear in the body, the person has to exercise. Cardiovascular exercises such as swimming, running, aerobics and cycling are some of the best ways to lose weight. This is because the individual will use muscle glycogen and fatty acids as an energy source through out the entire exercise.

The American Council for Sports Medicine believe that a cardiovascular workout should last for a minimum of 20 minutes and done at least three times a week. In order to lose weight, the individual should at least do it for half an hour for five days weekly.

It takes hard work and discipline to lose the excess weight and it i

Shocking Difference Between Fitness And Wellness!

How do you determine your current fitness and wellness status? Your doctor do not ask you every time you visit. How do you know if you are fit or if you are well? How can you measure the two?

It is important to know that being fit and being well is two entirely and mutually exclusive conditions. However, they are both essential in maintaining optimum health and vitality.

Many of us do not take the time to properly understand what is meant by being fit and being well. We don't even know what it takes to be fit and what it takes to be well.

Your fitness level can be reasonably be tested by a fitness counselor or certified fitness instructor at the local gym or fitness club.

Optimum functioning immune systems can determine you state of wellness. Vitamins supplementation and nutrition are also good indicators of your wellness. It is not uncommon for a fit person to be unwell and a very well person to be unfit. However, a state of balance is achieved when both wellness and fitness are at optimum levels in an individual body.

Nutritional intake directly affects our body's ability and the minds ability to remain well. This coupled with clean living, healthy eating, regular exercise will no doubt compliment that state of total fitness and wellness.

Spirituality is another important element when determining our wellness level. Spiritual reflection allows one to cleanse the body of the toxins of our daily life. Wellness is like an envelop that holds our complete state of being, mind and health. It's a condition of the whole mind, body and soul.

Finally, those who bound on keeping fit should also consider and pay close attention to their wellness and staying well. The ideal balance is struck when both are in sync and both are given equal attention. This is the only way to achieve a long, well, fit and healthy lifestyle.

How To Stick To Your New Years' Fitness Resolution

We all know what it's like to make a New Year's Resolution with the best of intentions. We start out really positive, really motivated, really strong. No matter what the resolution, though, after about three weeks it just doesn't seem to be at the top of our priority list any longer. With fitness, maybe in the past you have promised yourself that you will meet a certain goal in a certain time this New Year, only to find yourself getting more and more discouraged as time passes and you haven't met that goal. Don't set yourself up to fail! You can create success by doing the following:

1. Map out a plan. You have heard the old adage "Those who fail to plan, plan to fail"? Nowhere is this truer than in the area of health and fitness. You simply can't decide to get in better shape or eat right without mapping out steps to follow through. If you decide to go to the gym, you need to decide what you are going to do there. Wandering around the equipment or deciding on the fly will not produce nearly the same results as having a goal and sticking to it. You may decide, for example, that you are going to commit to going to the gym five days a week. The next step here is to commit to doing specific exercises on those five days. For example, you could do 30 minutes of cardiovascular exercise on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and weight train Tuesdays and Thursdays. You could "allow" yourself to choose the cardio machine each day to mix it up or keep it interesting, but stick to a specific plan for the days you strength train. By focusing on specific body parts on specific days, you will not only notice results in those areas in less time, you will remain motivated to keep it up. Why? Because you set a goal - doing back and biceps on Tuesday, for example, and chest and triceps on Thursday - and stuck to it! Pretty soon, your small achievements will turn into big ones.

2. Mix it up every six weeks. Once you have the routine down and you are feeling good about yourself, the last thing you want to do is fall into a rut. Many people abandon their fitness goals because they fall into the same pattern each time they exercise, and it feels more like a chore than a fun activity. If you find yourself on the same treadmill in the same row next to the same person at the gym every day, move on to the elliptical machine or the stationary bike instead. If you really enjoy the treadmill but you run the same three miles each time you're on it, try switching to one of the pre-programmed options on the treadmill, or make your own routine. For example, you could do intervals - running at a higher speed than usual for two minutes and walking for one minute in between - until your usual amount of time has elapsed. The same holds true for weight lifting. If you usually do 10-12 reps for 3 sets of a given weight, try lifting lighter weight and doing twice the number of repetitions, or heavier weight but fewer reps. Take a class that's offered, or even join a league sport or get outside for some other fitness options. You will stay fresh and energized and a lot less prone to the fitness blues.

3. Find "your" time of day. Making exercise enjoyable cannot be done if it doesn't feel like something you are doing for yourself and no one else. A big part of this pleasure comes from finding a time of the day you can carve out for "just you". This means a time of day that is generally open to you to do as you please, and that will not come with constant interruptions as the week's progress. It also means a time of day with which you are physically comfortable. If you tend to eat a really early dinner, you are likely not going to want to exercise right after work. If you are the type of person who doesn't mind eating lunch at your desk, perhaps a mid-day workout is just what you need to keep you alert and focused for the rest of your day and stay strong with your new exercise program. If you're the kind that leaps out of bed in the morning, a pre-dawn run outside may be just your ticket. Whatever works for you, do not underestimate finding a time of day that best suits your wants and the needs of yourself, work, and family.

By simply thinking ahead and incorporating these three simple ideas, you are already on your way to making life changes you can stick with, and that is the key. Good luck on your New Year and New You!

Pilates Improves Your Fitness Level

More and more people have wondered whether Pilates is a form of exercise that can improve their muscle fitness and increase their strength. Experts believe that Pilates can indeed reduce a person's stress levels while increasing his or her mental awareness and body's flexibility. But, when people are asked if Pilates is a suitable form of exercise to increase fitness levels, responses vary greatly. Some think that probably is not the best type of exercise to do the job. But, those who have tried it assert that Pilates can definitely make your body feel stronger.

If you would like to really put your daily fitness routine in overdrive and get better results than you ever have in the past, you really should consider adding Pilates exercises into your home fitness workouts. Unlike traditional weight building exercises, with Pilates your body is controlled by your breathing. Even if this sounds surprisingly simple, while you are not going to produce the bulked up muscles of some weight lifters, Pilates will certainly help you increase your muscles' strength. In particular, some Pilates balance postures require enormous muscle control in order to prevent you from falling over. This muscle control actually helps you build and strengthen your whole body. Aerobic exercise is great for burning calories, while strength training works very well for strengthening your muscle groups, but Pilates goes far beyond either of those forms of exercise and can benefit you both physically and mentally.

In addition to all its other benefits, Pilates can help you improve muscle fitness and make you actually feel and be stronger. Whether you choose to use it as your primary means of strength training or you want it to supplement your other exercises, Pilates can help your muscles grow fit, balanced, and strong. In fact, many poses in Pilates are done very slowly or you are required to stay in a specific posture during several breaths. In fact, those who have experienced it, support that it is much more challenging to your muscles to hold a pose or repeat it slowly than it is to allow momentum to move you through an action. Particularly, by practicing Pilates you actually realign your muscles, so they become more balanced. You truly work your entire body when you practice Pilates as you do not focus on an isolated muscle or set, but actively recruit the smaller muscle groups as well. Finally, since you are not overworking any specific muscle group, you are less likely to get injured.

Concluding, Pilates is a type of exercise that has multiple benefits. Using the Pilates positions and breathing exercises one can focus inward rather than on the outward distractions of life. Pilates is considered a fitness program but also a mental exercise. Uniting mind and body through breathing, Pilates is destined to make people feel better about themselves and attain a better state of health overall.
